Verses In The Village
On Wednesday, October 14th at 5 pm Tlaquepaque will host another edition of Verses in the Village, this time featuring Prescott poet Dan Seaman and Page poet Steven Law.
Poets Dan Seaman and Steven Law have been performing around the state and the southwest for many years, perfecting their craft. Sedona’s inaugural Poet Laureate Gary Every is the host.
Dan Seaman has been presenting his poetry to Arizona audiences since 1997. Shortly after that he founded the Prescott Area Poets Assoc’n to fully promote poetry as performance art. He has a Bachelors in Journalism from NAU, and has worked in print, radio and film. His two self-aggrandizing chapbooks and four audio CDs are no longer available. As a “poet at large” his prose & poems can now only be heard during live readings (but he is working on a collection of free original poetry videos for the net.) His poems are experiential, never make believe. Dan has always felt that a poem is not a fully-realized artform until that poem has been read aloud.
Steven Law is a poet and Pushcart Prize-nominated essayist. He’s the author of Gone. Encounters with Awe, Wonder and Reverence While Exploring the American West and Polished, a collection of poems about exploring the Colorado Plateau by foot and by raft. He’s a Contributing Writer for Panorama: the Journal of Travel Place and Nature. His travel writing has won numerous Gold and Silver awards at the Travelers Tales Solas Awards for Best Travel Writing. He has worked as a farmer, short-order cook, waiter, journalist, travel writer, newspaper editor, magazine editor, Grand Canyon river guide, overland guide, and public relations coordinator. He lives in northern Arizona with his wife and two daughters.
